We went to Denver the last weekend in July. We went to see the Reds play the Rockies with Mike's dad. While we were there we took the kids to the Butterfly Pavilion. The butterflies were neat but we thought the tarantula exhibit was awesome.
Meet Ruby (the tarantula)
Yes we made Colin go first because he is more daring.
Isn't that so creepy?
Coll doll said it was fuzzy.
Here is the proof. Annelise held Ruby
other creepy things we saw
The butterfly pavilion was humid. We kinda rushed it. People were leaving the area dripping of sweat. Here were a couple of my favorite butterflies
One of the butterflies thought Annelise was a flower and landed on her shirt. She loved it!
The only way we could hold them is when the workers caught them in the net. We learned that if you touch a butterfly the powdery stuff comes off on our hands. If too much comes off then they won't be able to fly.
I thought we were just going to see butterflies but the kids got to hold a creepy spider. That made it worth the money.

What the crazy?! No way any of us would have held the creepy spider. Your kids are so brave! But we all would have loved the butterflies. They looked so pretty!
